INTRODUCING YOU TO SPINN

Happy Monday!

I am very excited to be introducing you to US Country Music duo Spinn who are made up of twin sisters Stephanie and Cheryl Lynn Spinner, who are also singer/ song-writers. Spinn have very kindly let me interview them before I release my review on their upcoming country single 'Crazy For You' out THIS FRIDAY (9th May).

So, hello Spinn. Thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview with me.
Hey Kellie! Thanks for having us, we’re excited to chat with you.

Firstly, I would like you to introduce yourselves to our readers?
We are Stephanie and Cheryl Lynn Spinner, singer/songwriters of the Country Duo Spinn from New Jersey USA.

How old were you were you decided to start writing your own songs? And when did you write and perform your first song?
We wrote our first song when we were maybe 6 or 7? We can still remember the chorus, so silly. It was about injustices on the playground, we were such little activists haha. The first time we performed an original song live was our 9th grade talent show. We were so nervous, Cher played piano and it was just the 2 of us on a huge stage. We played a song called “Nothing But Me”, lots of harmony. When we finished the audience went crazy, and that was the first time we felt that adrenaline rush. It’s addicting for sure!

Where did you first perform any of yours songs and how old were you?
As a lot of people have experienced it’s pretty hard for female fronted bands to get their start playing live shows, so our first real taste of regularly performing our original music was in college at an Open Mic Night called “Thursday Night Alternative”. We went to Monmouth University on the Jersey Shore and they have a great arts department. Jamming on the beach, what could be better?

What is your favourite country song and who is your favourite country artist (can be more than one)?
WE LOVE MIRANDA. Miranda Lambert is our favorite hands down. Her songwriting is top notch, she writes about things we relate in every level imaginable. Her music is fun, Wild, painful and truthful.
Favorite song is hard because it depends on our mood, but even when we’re happy we tend to lean towards heart breaking songs anyway haha. If we feel like crying we’re putting on Whiskey Lullaby no doubt. If we need some motivation Miranda’s “Heart Like Mine” does the trick. Love Song - “Greatest Love Story” by Lanco who we played with this past summer and we’re the NICEST guys! On the radio right now our favorite song has to be “Hey Whiskey” by Smithfield. That song has been on repeat in our apartment for over a year and it STILL gives us chills.

What is the most inspirational song you have heard?
So if you haven’t noticed we’re obsessed with music, so we’re going to give you a few.
“Crazy Dreams” - Carrie Underwood
“Do It Anyway” - Martina McBride
“Keep On Dreaming” - Eli Young Band

A little random question but one I always love hearing the answer too, What makes you enjoy Country Music?
Honesty. Country songs tell the truth no matter how raw or painful. The Country community is one big family, and being a part of something that connected and inclusive can make a person feel less lonely any day of the week.

Now to talk about your music and plans for 2018

So Spinn, you have an up and coming brand new single called Crazy For You which is out on May 9th, could you tell us a little bit about the song?
“Crazy For You” is a very special song to us. When you listen to the lyrics we give away tiny glimpses of what it’s like to be with us when we aren’t on stage, the in between interviews and traveling when we spend time with the people in our lives who make us who we are. It represents simple ness and stillness that keeps us balance while driving us forward. On the surface it’s a sweet love song, but to us the meaning is so much deeper than that. We hope the most that ‘Crazy For You’ makes people smile

Does that mean that you are planning on releasing music in 2018? If so, when could we expect it?
Yes! We will be releasing our next EP this summer

And not being from the UK, I have to ask could we expect to see you over here one day?
We would absolutely love to visit the UK! We’ve been growing our fan base in Europe a ton this past year, and hope that maybe this upcoming year we’ll be ready to make the trip! Everyone on your end of the pond has been so so supportive of our music, and we’d love to be able to meet everyone and thank them in person!

Thank you so much for your time, Spinn.
