Happy Monday!

Hello Claudia. Thank you for agreeing to our interview.
Of course! I am so happy to chat with you!

Firstly could we ask you to introduce yourselves?
Sure! I am Claudia Hoyser, an American country artist whose world has pretty much been flipped upside down by a chance meeting. I never thought singing and performing could turn out to be anything more than a hobby. Now it’s my whole life and it’s amazing!

How old were you were you decided to start writing your own songs? And when did you write and perform your first song?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and I think writing sort of came hand in hand with that. As a little girl, I loved making up my own songs even though most were silly or terrible! I remember scrawling out lyrics in diary entries, next to my bed at night and I'd get frustrated when I didn’t know how to spell a word! It wasn’t until about middle school that I started playing in coffee shops and performing my original songs.

Where did you first perform any of yours songs and how old were you?

The first open mic night I ever performed at was in a cozy little coffee shop on the Erie Canal. I was probably about 14 years old. I got the bug and never stopped performing live after that very first time. Then, I started setting up my own gigs in local bars and eateries  and making YouTube videos in my free time. Which eventually lead me to meet my manager and producer.

What is your favourite country song and who is your favourite country artist (can be more than one)?

Picking a single favorite country song is such a tough one! There are so many songs I couldn’t live without! “Heart Like Mine” by Miranda Lambert would be a pretty fair choice. She is my all-time favourite! Along with Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, Little Big Town and of course, the classics like, Dolly and Johnny Cash.

What is the most inspirational song you have heard?

I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack gets me every time!
Amen girl.

Now to talk about your music and plans for 2018;

So Claudia, you released your first ever single back in 2016 'No Matter What It Costs' - can you please tell us about the song?
I still don’t believe how this happened! “No Matter What it Costs” was pretty much an unintentional single. It was an un-mastered, simple demo that my manager sent over to our Music Director friend at Big Dog Country Radio, Stone Hill, solely for an opinion. Stone loved the song and said it was “full of swagger and highly competitive with today’s country music trends.” He thought it was so fitting, he asked us if he could test the track on air. A few days later, he called us with some exciting news. Stone said that he got a bunch of calls on the song which prompted our very first radio add. Stone opened the floodgates for our unexpected success on radio this year! It ended up making it to #76 on the Music Row Country Breakout Charts!

Also, you released your first EP 'Stream' on July 7th, 2017 - can you tell us about the recording experience?
Recording has become a way of life for me! I love it but It’s a blessing and a curse. I practically live in the studio and have learned more than I ever imagined I could. It’s a blessing that I have the opportunity to write and record with such incredible team. But it is totally addicting and hard to call things “Done!”

'Stream' features 5 songs, how did you decide what songs you wanted to put on it?
It actually came together pretty naturally. We needed to wrap up the EP before a couple of key radio tour stops in July. We really liked how the collection showed off a bunch of different sides and hinted at what’s to come on the full-length album.

Can we expect any new music from? If so, when?
YES! Get ready!! We are working so hard to finish up our full-length record and we’ll probably sneak out some singles and other surprises before the release!

What Kinda Man is your latest release single, can you please tell us about the song and who it based on a personal experience? I love this song so much!
We wrote What Kinda man about an old flame who turned out to be “relationship suicide.”  They don’t call them bad boys for nothing. The song pretty much tells story of why it all ended, so you’ll have to take a listen! :)

Congrats on 'What Kinda Man' coming back into the Music Row Country Break Out Chart.
Thank you!! We are all still celebrating over here!

And finally, are you planning on coming to the UK anytime soon?
I would LOVE to come perform in the UK!!

Thank you for your time, Claudia.

(At the time of releasing Claudia was number 71 on The Music Row Country Break Out Chart and What Kinda Man was playing on BBC Norfolk over the past weekend.)
